Sorry To Bother You – Special Benefit Screening

July 5, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This screening supports the National Black MBA Association Austin Chapter. For every person that attends this screening, the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar will be donating $1 to the non-profit organization.

The NBMBAA Austin Chapter invites you to this special premier screening of Sorry To Bother You on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7pm at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, the night before it opens in select cities, and 8 days before the film releases everywhere!

Oakland telemarketer Cassius Green struggles with his job, finding it hard to keep people on the line. But when a fellow black colleague suggests he adopt a “white voice” in his calls, Cassius suddenly rockets to Power Caller status, becoming drawn into a dystopian world of corporate excess. So begins the weird adventure of SORRY TO BOTHER YOU.

Fresh from the Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals comes the brilliantly original writing/directing debut of The Coup rapper Boots Riley. Full of whimsical visual flourishes, Riley’s ambitious film is an absurdist call for anti-corporate revolution – a bold satire from an exciting new voice in American cinema.

SORRY TO BOTHER YOU stars Lakeith Stanfield (GET OUT), Tessa Thompson (CREED, THOR: RAGNAROK), Armie Hammer, Terry Crews, Danny Glover, and the “white voices” of David Cross, Steve Buscemi, and Patton Oswalt – a call center’s worth of talent. Don’t hang up on this year’s craziest indie hit.

Arrive early and join us at The Highball Austin for networking and happy hour, beginning at 6pm. Show starts at 7pm sharp!
